Full time associate needed for rural companion animal practice in Southwestern Virginia. Southwest Virginia Veterinary Services (SVVS) is an AAHA accredited, full service companion animal practice which has served the pets and people of this region since 1975. We have a recently remodeled/expanded facility that includes all the tools and toys which will allow you to perform to the best of your abilities and to enjoy the practice of veterinary medicine. We have a staff of 15 whose job is to serve our clients and our patients and to help you become the best you can be. Compensation includes health and dental insurances, vacation packages, and investment opportunities. In addition, the Practice Owner is a past President of both AAHA and the VVMA, so continuing education is considered a critical aspect of this job and is budgeted for all staff members. Future ownership/partnership is also a consideration. If interested, contact or email resume to Dr Peggy Rucker at Visit our web site at

Applicant must be a fully qualified graduate of an AVMA accredited Veterinary Collage with a license to practice in Virginia. This is a rural area with the nearest emergency clinic over an hour away..., so we offer 24/7 service to our clients, and the new associate will be asked to share (along with the two other doctors) in providing emergency services after hours (after an adequate period of training and assessment).

Additional Salary Information: We pay on production with the base salary being stated above. Production % dependent on experience.

Southwest Virginia Veterinary Services is an AAHA practice that has been serving the pets and people of Southwestern Virginia since 1975. We have a recently remodeled/expanded facility with five exam rooms and all the tools and toys that allow us to provide great service for our patients and clients. We are in a small town where our clients are friends and our staff are family. We have a staff of 15 which includes a front office team, office manager, 3 licensed LVT/Veterinary Nurses as well as two assistants, and a kennel team. At SVVS, we believe that quality care and compassionate care go hand and hand, and we do not allow the fact that we are in a rural environment to govern the quality of our care. Our Hospital Director is a past president of both AAHA as well as the VVMA, thus we strongly believe in continuing education for all staff members. We are seeking a third associate to join our two person veterinary team.
